Rte. 44 Gateway Special Planning Area



Characterized as a Large Undeveloped Tract

This area of more than 300 acres borders the Town of Willington. It has extensive roadside access to Rte. 44, a major access route from Hartford to Providence. This property is a potential Brownfield opportunity, a portion of which is subject to an ongoing EPA remediation project. Subject to environmental assessment, this property holds much promise for its combined commercial and conservation attributes.

"With proper cleanup (of the existing site contamination) the property within this SPA is suited for a mix of commercial or municipal and recreational uses with conservation easements as linkages to other properties.
