AEDC nominates the 2014 Ashford Business of the Year:

In conjunction with the Windham Chamber of Commerce’s annual business awards, AEDC nominated Yeagle Industries as the Ashford Business of the Year. Owner, Brian Suvulis and his wife Pat were honored at the Chamber’s award dinner on 05/29. Dick Williams, AEDC Chair introduced Brian and presented the award. Yeagle is a long standing local industry in vacuum coating equipment and vacuum pump repair. Brian has been instrumental in the establishment and current success of our local business association. He has been the association’s president for the past several years!

AEDC and the Ashford Conservation Commission seek Grant:
Early in April a Request for Proposal was introduced to the AEDC by Commissioner Mike Gantick. This was in regards to a grant in support of a program sponsored by the Citizens Institute for Rural Design. The Commission saw this as an excellent potential catalyst for “town planning”. It was presented to the Conservation Commission and they agreed to join AEDC as co-sponsor. The key to the success of this program is the broad endorsement and participation of town functions and organizations. This has happened, as we have received support from town commissions, Historic Society, churches, associations, State representatives, and many others. Whether Ashford will receive the grant is undecided, however, everyone agrees we should build on the momentum created by this effort. Stay tuned.
