For children with serious illnesses and their families, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a caring community filled with fun and friendship. Whether at Camp, in the hospital or in camper communities, these children and their families experience hope and “a different kind of healing” through a variety of year-round programs.
This summer, Hole in the Wall is excited to be back providing in-person programming and thrilled to be welcoming back families to its Ashford facility. The Camp is hosting eight, four-day Family Camps where more than 100 families will enjoy podded, parallel programming including archery, horseback riding and fishing. COVID protocols such as on-site testing, masking and physical distancing will be in place to ensure safety for all.
As families arrive this year, they’ll notice Camp looks a little different following the February fire that destroyed arts & crafts, woodshop and cooking zone program areas. Thanks to an outpouring of more than 4,000 gifts from the Camp community and beyond, Hole in the Wall will break ground on a new program complex when the summer program concludes in August. It is scheduled to be completed by Summer 2022.
As Hole in the Wall returns to in-person programs and its Hospital Outreach Program resumes programming at children’s hospital bedsides in most of its partner locations, the Camp also continues offering a variety of alternative and virtual programs that allowed the staff to safely serve thousands of children and family members throughout the pandemic.
Founded by Paul Newman in 1988, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp remains grateful for the generous community of thousands of donors, volunteers and friends who help bring joy and laughter to more than 20,000 children with serious illnesses and family members each year – all completely free of charge.
